| PWA Question | What is working memory? |
| PWA Answer |
Working memory is linked to how the brain processes information. It’s the skill we need to hold onto and manipulate information during tasks. In particular, we need it for multi-step tasks, in order to remember the information we are given and carry out lots of different instructions one after the other. Toddlers and young children aren’t yet able to carry out tasks with lots of instructions – working memory is something children develop as we grow. But as parents you can help your kids improve at this important skill. Singing songs with movements your child needs to remember, playing games which require kids to observe or memorize things and breaking complicated instructions into smaller chunks can all help children develop their working memory skills.
