PWA Try this Find a good area to set up your cooking show. {LEARNER_FNAME} might like to wear an apron or a chef’s hat. Say: On today’s episode, we will be thinking of all the things we can make with the secret ingredient.  Pick a simple ingredient that {LEARNER_FNAME} is familiar with, such as bread, juice or carrots. You can even give {OBJ_PRONOUN} a few pieces of the ingredient to play around with.  Now, {LEARNER_FNAME} should think of as many things to make with this secret ingredient that {SUBJ_PRONOUN} can think of. Be as silly and inventive as possible! For instance, {SUBJ_PRONOUN} could make a tower out of bread or crumble it into small pieces to make cereal.   Count all the ideas that {LEARNER_FNAME} thinks of in one minute.  End the show with lots of applause. If you both had fun, make more episodes choosing different ingredients.
PWA Variations
PWA What to look Encourage {LEARNER_FNAME} to come up with as many ideas as {SUBJ_PRONOUN} can, no matter how silly. Count how many ideas {SUBJ_PRONOUN} comes up with, and whether they are typical uses for that ingredient or something more surprising.
PWA Why this matters This activity helps to improve {LEARNER_FNAME}’s cognitive flexibility, Coming up with lots of different ideas sparks your child’s creativity, which requires flexible thinking.
