Prepare for this game by picking a starting line and a finish line, with one person designated as the leader. You’re going to have a race, but you can only move when the leader says it’s a "green light." When they say "red light", you have to freeze, otherwise you have to take three steps back._
The race leader should stand on the finish line and turn their back towards the racer(s). They choose when to yell "Green Light" or "Red Light."
On "Red Light", the race leader should turn around quickly and point out any racers who are still moving. That racer must take three steps backwards.
After all the racers are settled, the race leader should turn around again and yell "Green Light" to get the racers moving again. The first racer to reach the finish line wins. |

This game is a balancing act; at times, players will be running, sometimes they will be moving cautiously and slowly, and at other times they need to freeze completely. This ability to inhibit motor movement is challenging for all ages, but especially younger learners.
