To prepare for this activity, start by drawing some red, blue and yellow fish on index cards. Take only the blue and yellow fish, leaving the red ones out, and shuffle the cards.
Say: Let's go fishing ¬– but we only want to catch blue fish. Lay the cards face up on the table, one by one, flipping them slowly, one by one. {LEARNER_FNAME} should ignore yellow fish, and take the blue fish.
If {SUBJ_PRONOUN} successfully removes a blue fish, praise {OBJ_PRONOUN} for {POS_PRONOUN} fishing skills, put the fish back in the pack and carry on.
After six blue fish have been caught, it’s time to switch the rules. Take the yellow fish off the table and put them away. Shuffle all the blue and red fish, and continue the game, fishing for red fish this time.
Play several rounds of catching red fish and returning them to the water. |
