To prepare, create a set of 18 cards by drawing pictures on some paper and cutting them out: 12 bugs and six butterflies. Once the cards have been created shuffle them to thoroughly mix them up.
Begin the game by saying: We want to catch all the bugs, but make sure you don’t touch the butterflies. Then, flip over one card at a time. For each flipped card, {LEARNER_FNAME} should slap or take the card when {SUBJ_PRONOUN} sees a bug and hold back when {SUBJ_PRONOUN} sees a butterfly.",
To make the task harder, increase your speed or take out some of the butterfly cards from the deck. This will make {LEARNER_FNAME} focus more on catching bugs, making it harder to hold back {POS_PRONOUN} from swatting a butterfly. |

As the game gets faster, when does {LEARNER_FNAME} start swatting butterflies by accident? Make sure to keep the pace of the game fast enough to be fun, but not so fast that {SUBJ_PRONOUN}’s no longer holding back and just swatting everything. |

PWA Why this matters
|
As {LEARNER_FNAME} gets into the habit of catching more and more bugs, it becomes difficult to control that habitual repetitive motion when they see a butterfly and must try not to touch it. The fewer butterflies that you include in the deck, the more difficult this task will be.
