| PWA Lead | In this role play game, {LEARNER_FNAME} will be on every TV channel while you're in control of the remote. |
| PWA Materials | Remote control |
| PWA Progress Marker | Acts out new imagined environments consistently;Imagines and acts within a given environment;Adjusts more quickly to act out new imagined environments |
| PWA Question Body | How did {LEARNER_FNAME} adjust to new channels/location prompts? |
| PWA Tags | Imagination/ Pretend;Indoor;Movement;Physical Activity |
| PWA Try this | Sit back on the couch as if you are settling back to watch your favorite show and ask {LEARNER_FNAME} to stand in front of you to pretend to be on the television. Use a remote control pointed at {OBJ_PRONOUN} to signal when to change the channel. Challenge {LEARNER_FNAME} to act out the shows on the TV, watching carefully for when you switch channels so {SUBJ_PRONOUN} can switch to a new show. Take the remote and pretend to turn on the TV. Let {LEARNER_FNAME} know what show {SUBJ_PRONOUN} is starring in, where the setting of the show is – for example, at the beach – and when to start acting. {LEARNER_FNAME} should act as if {SUBJ_PRONOUN} is on the beach. {SUBJ_PRONOUN} might go swimming in the ocean, or build a sandcastle. Try not to prompt {OBJ_PRONOUN} with ideas unless {SUBJ_PRONOUN} is really stuck. Keep switching the channel every few minutes. You can visit the desert, scuba dive underwater or even teleport to an alien planet! |
| PWA Variations | |
| PWA What to look | Each time you switch the channel, watch how {LEARNER_FNAME} adjusts. Does {SUBJ_PRONOUN} take a while to switch to the new show? Count how many ideas {SUBJ_PRONOUN} comes up with. |
| PWA Why this matters | As the channels change, {LEARNER_FNAME} will be challenged to use {POS_PRONOUN} cognitive flexibility to consider how to act in different situations. UTM-EM-042-MAR-21 |
| PWA Question Response Option first | Continued playing as if it was the original channel and didn't switch to the new one ;Struggled to switch and come up with activities that should be done in the new environment, but switched after a few minutes ;Quickly came up with 1-2 actions that you could do in the new environment, then ran out of ideas ;Quickly adjusted to the new imagined environment and acted out a story with lots of details |
